The Boy Scouts in Muskingum, Morgan , and Perry County have been busy over the last couple of months.
The first weekend in October, we saw over 225 Cub Scouts and adult leaders at Muskingum Valley Scout Reservation for a camporee with a Survivor theme. The boys participated in various stations including one where they ate exotic foods such as beef heart and beef tongue.
The third weekend in October, we saw over 150 Boy Scouts and adult leaders at Muskingum Valley Scout Reservation for a camporee with a Gold Rush theme. This included having the boys panning for “gold” as well as practicing compass skills, shooting skills, and tomahawk throwing.
We conducted 5 training sessions for our adult volunteer leaders during the month of October. This training was for both Cub Scout and Boy Scout leaders and included classroom instruction as well as outdoor experience.
This past weekend, in celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Scouting, we planted 100 trees around the OUZ walking path. There were over 125 scouts and adult leaders in attendance. This day amounts to approximately 450 service hours to the community.
We are in the process of forming a new partnership with Starlight Industries. They will be sponsoring a Venturing Crew with 12 of their clients as members.
